Paddy’s Coffee says good bye for now to the Union City Community

Paddy behind the counter on the last day of business at Paddy's Coffee

Paddy was there this morning on the last day for Paddy’s Coffee. He told me and other loyal fans of his shop that this is just a brief rest. He will be back soon with a new location and a new place for the Union City community to go for a relaxed atmosphere to hang out and enjoy refreshments and conversation. We will miss Paddy’s Coffee and look forward to it’s new incarnation wherever it may be. I hope it is closer to the Library so we can maybe have a book club there?

Community Quilt Project for Art Is Education Month

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Last Saturday artist Marion Coleman demonstrated the art of quilting and encouraged kids, teens, and parents  to draw  self portraits for our community quilting project. The drawings were colored with special fabric crayons and the artists selected background papers to compliment their self portraits. Next Marion will transfer the drawings to fabric with her iron. She will design borders and put the art together and stitch the quilt. We can’t wait to see how it will look. To see a sample quilt come to the children’s area of the Library. We have one in the display case. The finished quilt will be hung in the children’s picture book area of the Library.
