Students of the Natanjali Dance Academy under the direction of Kalpana Kamalanathan performed Bharatanatyam style dance at Union City Library on Saturday March 3rd for Art Is Education Month. Bharatanatyam is an ancient Indian classical dance form from South India that originated over 4,000 years ago.  Along with the performance Ms. Kamalanathan explained what the students are learning about music and dance including rhythm, and melody, as well as yoga and discipline. Art Is Education Month presents a showcase of youth arts learning in Alameda County during the month of March each year. For more information go to www.artiseducation.org/10/.
