Last Saturday the Art is Education month  was started at Union City Library with performance by the Bharatanatyam Classical Indian Dance. Other programs are :
 

Friday, March 9, 3:30 – 5 PM Paper Quilt Collage Workshop

School-age kids and parents are invited to make a paper quilt collage on the theme “Creating A Better Future Together” in the Library. Join us to explore how you can express yourself with colorful and recycled paper. The resulting quilt will be on display in the Library.

 

Saturday, March 10, 11:30 am and 1:30 pm Family Quilting Project Workshops

 Kids and parents will learn about fabric art and the quilting process in these free quilting workshops with noted local artist Marion Coleman. Each person will make a self-portrait on a fabric quilt square which will become part of the community quilt art piece “We Are The Future” at the Library. This artwork will be displayed permanently in the children’s area.  

Sunday, March 18, 3 – 4:30 pm Persian New Year Dance Performance Enjoy the graceful flowing movements and swirling skirts as Shahrzad Dance Academy shares the Persian culture of dance. These dances will celebrate Nowruz, the festival of the New Year, which marks the first day of Spring and the beginning of the year. In Persian culture, Nowruz is celebrated on the Vernal Equinox each year.  

Saturday, March 24, 2 – 3:30 PM Tween Duct Tape Art Workshop

 

Tweens ages 8 – 12 years are invited to learn how to make objects out of duct tape of various colors. Come have fun and learn new art skills!
