“Each month, tens of thousands of low-income Alameda County residents cannot afford well-balanced meals for themselves and their families. Many never imagined they would need to request food assistance, but barren cupboards and empty pockets have led them to local soup kitchens and food pantries.”  []

The Union City Library is once again participating in the effort to restock the Alameda County Food Bank by providing a Food Drive barrel in our lobby. Please share – every little bit helps!

Now that schools are closing for the summer, the need will be even greater as children won’t have access to free and low-cost meals. Here is a list of the most needed items:

• Canned Fruit & Vegetables

• Canned Meats and Fish

• Peanut Butter

• Pasta

• Beans

• Rice

• Canned Soup (low-salt)

• Low-sugar Cereal and Oatmeal

• Tomato Sauce

• Powdered Milk

Thank you!!
