We’ve been having a lot of exceptions lately — do you know what that means? It means we’re going to do something different. Today we’re going to talk about the Summer Reading Game!
Starting Monday, June 13, come in to any branch of the Alameda County Library, including the Bookmobile, and pick up a copy of the game board. This year we are playing a Bingo game. Once school is out, start keeping track of how much you read. And it doesn’t have to be things you find at the Library; it can be things you already own or borrow from a friend — anything you read counts! And you can read anything: books of course, magazines, game cheats, the back of your cereal box..
For every thirty minutes spent reading you get one spin, and you can stamp one space with that picture on your Bingo board. When you fill in your first line across, up-and-down, or diagonally, you win prizes. If you continue playing and stamp every space on the board, you win more prizes, like tickets to Lawrence Hall of Science, Chabot Space and Science Center, MOCHA [Museum of Children’s Art in Oakland], a transportation band, a special folder and ruler, and a book of your own!
And of course, reading, which is the best prize of all!
In addition to the Summer Reading Game, we have also scheduled many great programs, all summer, just for you! Call the Library branch close to you or visit our website, http://www.aclibrary.org/, to find all kinds of fun, free programs.
