“Creating a Better Future Together”
March is Arts Education Month. In conjunction with the Alameda County Office of Education and the Alameda County Arts Commission, Alameda County Library branches have planned many events for our communities.
Friday, March 9, 3:30-5:00 p.m. everyone is invited to the Union City Library for a Paper Collage Quilt Program, a craft event for all ages. Help us create a quilt using all recycled materials.
Quilt squares will be displayed at the Library through the month of March. Some quilt squares might be part of an Alameda County Library quilt that will be presented to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
Free event. No Registration required. Craft materials supplied.
Saturday, March 10, everyone is invited to “We Are the Future: Art is Education Quilting Program with artist Marion Coleman for school-age children and their families. Please register for one of two sessions, 11:30-1:30 and 2-4 p.m. Bring in a picture of yourself and create a self-portrait quilt square on paper, which will then be transferred to fabric. The fabric squares will later be stitched into a quilt that will be hung in the Children’s Area of the Library.
Free event. Registration IS required, but you can probably register the day of the program. Craft materials supplied.
