Monday Children’s Book Reviews for September 3, 2012

Today is Labor Day. Hooray, a day off from school, and maybe your parents have the day off also. But what is Labor Day, really?

According to the U. S Government Department of Labor website:

“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”

In other words “Labor Day is a time to celebrate American workers. Over 100 years ago, our country made Labor Day a national holiday.

“Many people have made a difference in this country with the hard work they do every day – police officers, nurses, firefighters, teachers and many more. Labor Day allows people to show their appreciation for dedicated people.”
